"Chris Marshall and the North Star Companies services have been crucial in the recent purchase and renovation of my older " fixer upper" home in North Beach, MD. As my realtor, Chris helped guide me through the process of locating, negotiating and purchasing my home. He and the North Star Companies then took on the very difficult task of completely renovating the interior of this older home. This renovation began by replacing the homes entire crawlspace including the concrete piers, beams, joists, gravel and vapor barrier, insulation and sub flooring. They then added a second full bathroom, completely replaced the plumbing, upgraded the electric, insulated the attic, added a heat pump system, replaced many windows, doors, trim moldings and installed my new appliances and kitchen cabinets.
Chris also played an essential role in recommendations for painting, flooring, cabinets and Granite. Chris Marshall of North Star helped me from conception to finish with a 203k loan on a short sale property. It was a long process that I never could have made it through without the assistance of this company. After waiting from May 2016 until Dec 22 2016 to close on the house, Chris and his team got to work on Jan 4 and were finished on March 31, 2017. They encountered major renovations not planned for when they discovered termite damage which required a whole new flooring system. They went in and replaced everything; laying down pea gravel and sealing the crawl space with a vapor barrier and foam insulation after supporting the house with a steal beam. That was the unexpected part.
Then they went to work completely renovating the walls and floors top to bottom with care do that the final result was a completely new home painted beautifully, crown molding, special doors and fixtures. They remodeled the bathroom by enlarging it, setting beautiful ceramic tile and fixtures including a cottage style vanity with quartz counter top. They put a whole new roof on the house, turned an outbuilding into a barn, built a 8 x 20 screened porch off the bedrooms, graded and landscaped around the whole house burying the drain off from the new gutter system and running a water line to the barn. I am just giving you a brief idea of the enormous amount of work done in such a short amount of time. All the way, Chris Marshall discussed progress, options, and kept me informed about everything. He went the extra mile to get everything done and paid close attention to every little detail. He passed all inspections with flying colors and got me into the home by March 12,2017. You cant imagine just how much work was done all with a smile and devotion to getting it done right with quality materials and expert workmanship. It is quite scary to trust a contractor these days. Often they do a lousy job and leave you high and dry with work unfinished; saying they guarantee their work but not doing so.
This company is trustworthy and reliable on every level and phase of a remodel project. Any question or concern I had, was responded to within the hour not the day. There were changes needed to the bid and Chris kept it financially feasible without sacrificing the overall look as he went along. He kept me on course and hopeful even when facing a real disastrous situation with the termite damage. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have had North Star doing the work. They not only brought a dream into reality, they stepped it up to a higher level by adding all the bells and whistles. My home looks like a magazine and I am so pleased. So, if you are wondering about taking an older property on the market and turning it into your dream home, call on North Star. Chris Marshall is also a realtor so he can help you with the buying of the property as well. You will be amazed at what he can do for your unique situation. I am a school teacher looking to retire in a few years. I was going to relocate out of state, but am so happy I decided to stay in this area where I can know my house is done completely and can raise alpacas and focus on what I want from here on out, not worrying about a problem later on or fighting over work done poorly.
I started out just dreaming about a home, but Chris Marshall North Star Company made it into a reality that I will never forget. I really encourage anyone playing around with the idea of any remodel or work requiring a contractor to use this company. You will not regret it in the least. I love my home!!!! I still can't believe that I own this beautiful home. My experience with The North Star Companies was amazing. Mr. Marshall was very friendly and professional. I knew the first time that I met Mr. Marshall (with his notepad and measuring tape) that North Star was the company that was going to get the job done. I received notifications weekly about the updates to my home. I was never left out of the loop. Mr. Marshall was very knowledgeable about everything. I learned so much from him. We bought a foreclosed property that needed a lot of work like leaking plumbing, roof, basement mold, etc. We also needed enhancement work all over the house. Chris provided a very accurate cost estimate and completed the work on time and within budget. Chris and his team are very skilled, knowledgeable, professional and courteous. We are very happy with the workmanship, professionalism, materials, and overall result of our basement repair completed by Chris and crew of the North Star Companies. As a result of a recent basement flood, we hired Chris to bring our basement back to life, as well as to complete some upgrades to make the space more functional for our family. The team worked to replace an overworked sump pump and backup system, repair drywall, and replace carpet that was damaged in the flood. They also created a playroom for our girls, and made some aesthetic changes by replacing plain drywall in our staircase with a beautiful wood and wrought iron rail. In comparison to other companies we interviewed, the North Star Companies is very competitively priced. They utilized upgraded materials which were much better than what was originally there. Chris and team remained flexible with our schedule, and was very responsive whenever we reached out to him to discuss changes and/or questions we had during the process. The end product is gorgeous and we already have plans to hire them again for future work in our home. We highly recommend the North Star Companies, as they were a pleasure to work with.

Reference for Chris Marshall We were having a rental house we owned for 37 years totally gutted and renovated, unfortunately the contractor we chose abandoned the job and left town. Our attorney recommendation Chris Marshall of North Star LLC. Chris inspected the job and gave us a very professional proposal and after getting several other proposals we reviewed all the proposals, Chris Marshall stood out from the others. Spelled out everything in detail and also Included with Chris Marshall's proposal he included The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations for North Star Companies LLC along with Chris's Contractor/Salesman licenses, letter showing Maryland Home Builder Registration Number showing expiration date, a certificate from State of Maryland, Department of Assessments and Taxation showing that North Star Companies LLC was in good standing, their insurance binder summary of coverage and from The Better Business Bureau certification. After reviewing Chris's references we were very impressed and hired him. He has no problem with organizing and coordinating the work to be done and hiring excellent subcontractors. I was so lucky finding Chris Marshall on HomeAdvisor, he saved me from losing thousands of Dollars. I called Chris because I was in desperate need of someone who can finish the build out of my retail store. The contractor that originally started it, took the money but never finished. With the work half done and several inspections missing, it was near impossible for me to find someone who would complete the build out, as nobody wanted to take over a job that someone else had started. Chris and his team were extremely professional, offered a great price and finished all open work quickly and in much higher quality than anyone else who had worked for me before. I am sure to call them first for my next construction project! I cannot be happier!
